Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is located near the “activity center” of Colonie – 1 mile from the Northway (I-87), Colonie town library, Crossings town park, and busy Wolf Road shopping area. Our members live close by in the Albany-Shaker Road area, come from nearby neighborhoods of Loudonville, West Albany, Village of Colonie, Latham, Niskayuna, and Menands, and even travel from areas in Troy/Rensselaer, Albany, Schenectady, and Saratoga Counties. We are linked together by the vision and understanding of what is possible at Good Shepherd: a community of the Lord’s faithful people, accepting and loving others.

Good Shepherd is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Formed in 1988 by the merger of The American Lutheran Church, the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches and the Lutheran Church in America, the ELCA has 4.9 million baptized members and over 10,000 congregations. It was the hope of Martin Luther’s reformation challenge in 1517 that the church would reform its practice and preaching to be more consistent with the Word of God as contained in the Bible. Today’s Lutherans hold to basic principles of theology and practice espoused by Luther, including Sola Gratia: We are saved by the grace of God alone -- not by anything we do.
