Sunday School
Good Shepherd's Sunday School meets on Sunday mornings from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. during the school year (while parents take part in Faith Matters discussions). Groups are small and intimate, so every child gets lots of love and attention!
There is fun and learning for ages 3 through 6th grade. The learning experience is kept fresh with the inclusion of many special activities:
-
Fall Rally Day – an opportunity for teachers and students to meet and get off to a great start
-
Bagel Sunday – a unique (and yummy!) way to learn about sharing what God has given us and others
-
Martin Sunday – learning about Martin Luther and Martin Luther King Jr.
Grandmother’s Tea – an chance for youth and elders to share their stories and the ways God works in their lives
Vacation Bible School
Flexibility for parents and fun for kids! Children ages 3 through 6th grade enjoy music, crafts, age-appropriate Bible studies and lunch during this week-long camp. Registration forms can be downloaded in PDF format or as a Word document. A full day program option is also offered, adding activities before and after the mid-day ‘core’ Vacation Bible School activities – particularly helpful for working parents.
First Communion
Classes are held in the spring for 5th grade students in preparation for First Communion on Pentecost Sunday in June. These classes are led by Pastor Knarvik and their Sunday School teacher.
Confirmation
Growing in faith, fellowship and self-awareness is our focus as the 7th and 8th graders from Good Shepherd join with youth of the churches of the Albany Lutheran Cluster to work on material from Luther’s Small Catechism, including the Apostle’s Creed, Ten Commandments, Lord’s Prayer, and the Sacraments. They also gather at Good Shepherd to work on additional academic, spiritual and service projects. Grow with us!
Youth Group
Whether is camping, canoeing, or helping others, Pastor Knarvik leads older youth on some awesome adventures. Ask him!
Cradle Roll
No one is too young to be included! Children under 4 are recognized at their baptism and with cards at their birthdays and baptismal anniversaries. |
